A route for travellers who want Anatolia in sequence rather than in fragments. From Istanbul the journey moves to Ankara, where the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations lays out the Hittite and earlier past that the rest of the country is built on. Cappadocia follows, then Konya and the Mevlevi tradition at the centre of the plateau.

The final stage crosses to the Aegean for Pamukkale and Ephesus, closing the arc from prehistory to the classical world. Internal flights cover the longest legs, sightseeing days are privately guided, and the twelve-day length allows genuine rest days rather than a continuous transfer schedule.

Journey Highlights

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrival in Istanbul

Istanbul

Private welcome at Istanbul Airport and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure, with time to adjust before the guided programme begins.

Day 2 — Imperial Istanbul

Istanbul

A privately guided day across the historic peninsula, covering the principal Byzantine and Ottoman monuments and the bazaar quarter. Interior visits follow current opening arrangements, with time left to wander between them.

Day 3 — Bosphorus & Neighbourhoods

Istanbul

The city seen from the water, followed by the shoreline districts and quieter neighbourhoods away from the main sites. The afternoon can be shaped around museums, food or simply time at leisure.

Day 4 — Fly to Ankara

Ankara

Travel to Ankara and spend the day at the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations, whose Hittite and Neolithic collections give context for everything that follows. Anıtkabir can be added for those interested in the modern republic.

Day 5 — Ankara to Cappadocia

Cappadocia

Continue south-east across the plateau to Cappadocia, arriving in the afternoon. A first viewpoint at the end of the day introduces the valleys before the full programme begins.

Day 6 — Valleys & Rock-Cut Churches

Cappadocia

A full guided day among the painted cave churches, carved villages and open-air valleys of the region. An optional sunrise balloon flight can be arranged, subject to weather and operating conditions.

Day 7 — Underground Cities & Leisure

Cappadocia

Descend into one of the multi-level underground settlements, then keep the afternoon lighter — a valley walk, local workshops, or time at the hotel. Additional excursions can be added on request.

Day 8 — Cappadocia to Konya

Konya

Travel west to Konya, the spiritual home of the Mevlevi order. The afternoon covers the Mevlana museum and the city’s Seljuk architecture, with visits arranged around prayer times and current conditions.

Day 9 — Konya to Pamukkale

Pamukkale

A longer driving day across the plateau to Pamukkale, broken by scenic stops. Arrive with the evening free before the following morning at the terraces.

Day 10 — Travertines & Hierapolis

Pamukkale

Walk the white travertine terraces and the ruins of Hierapolis above them. The afternoon is left open for the thermal pools, a slower lunch or rest.

Day 11 — Ephesus

Ephesus – Selçuk

Continue to the coast for a guided day at Ephesus — the marble street, the theatre, the library facade and the terraced houses. The village of Şirince can be added in the afternoon if time allows.

Day 12 — Departure from Izmir

Izmir

After a final unhurried morning, private transfer to Izmir Airport for your onward journey.
